Our Story

Pinnacle Apothecary grew out of a couple's desire to serve their community.  Jonathan and Kerri Snipes met in high school in Lexington, South Carolina.  They shared several classes and friends throughout their school career before going their separate ways to college, Kerri to Winthrop University and Jonathan to the University of South Carolina.  They reconnected in 2005 at church.  After 4 years of dating, they got married in 2009.  They stayed in Lexington while Jonathan finished his rotations for pharmacy school before moving to Waynesville, North Carolina in 2010.  Both Jonathan and Kerri love the mountains and wanted to move here as soon as they could!  They have spent the last 5 years raising their three children, Joleigh, Clark, and Calvin, travelling when possible, and renovating two houses and a pharmacy.

Jonathan, the owner and pharmacist-in-charge, has been dreaming of owning his own pharmacy since he first stepped behind the counter in 2001 as a 16 year old pharmacy technician.  It took 9 years to finish his schooling, 2 years experience at a major retail pharmacy, and 8 years working at a small, community retail pharmacy before he was finally able to see that dream through.  All of those years have provided Jonathan with a clear vision for what he wants his store to be.  His first concern is that his patients know their health is the utmost priority.  That begins when they walk in the door, being greeted by name by familiar faces behind the counter.  He and his staff strive to take the time to learn about the people they serve, from stories about their families to any non-medical needs they may have.  At Pinnacle, if we can find a way to meet a need, we will.

Jonathan and Teela, his right-hand technician, began working together in 2010 when Jonathan started at the Waynesville CVS.  They developed a strong respect for each other's abilities and work ethic over the years.  They both ended up at the Mission My Care Plus-Candler, where they continued to hone their rhythm and find ways to complement each other's strengths.  They are excited to build on the last decade in this new venture!

In 2022, AdventHealth opened a new Multispecialty clinic in the former location of the Mission My Care Plus-Candler.  Jonathan reached out about the possibility of opening a second location where he had previously worked.  AdventHealth was excited about the idea of having a full service retail pharmacy on site, so we began to make plans.  We are so excited that Sara Gibbs, a pharmacist Jonathan worked with at Mission, who also worked at the Candler My Care Plus, was willing to come on to head up the second store!  The new location, Pinnacle Apothecary Candler, opened on September 19, 2022.
