Many have asked why we went with the name Pinnacle Apothecary. The term "apothecary" has been used for centuries longer than the term pharmacist to define a person that prepares and sells drugs for medicinal purposes. Over time, the term changed from solely referring to the person to also naming the place where the drugs were sold, what we now call a pharmacy. Interestingly, the terms apothecary and boutique both have similar meaning and origin traced to the Latin term "apotheca." When deciding on a name, we wanted the name to define an old-fashioned, hometown pharmacy - a warm, welcoming place to receive medications and advice as well as unique items and gift baskets. We want to be more than somewhere that counts pills, we want to be a place that knows the people and community we serve and focuses on how to be the best at patient care.
Once we decided on Apothecary, we then needed a name that conveyed that mission. Being in the mountains around Asheville, North Carolina, what better way to define the top or the best than the term "Pinnacle." This place is the culmination of many years of work and a lifetime of dreams. We want to provide the best service and advice possible to all of our patients. In summary, the meaning of our name is "best pharmacy" (or "best pharmacist” 😜)…we just disguised it a little. Come by and see us today so we can show you how we live up to our name.
